Premier League Hot Take: Leicester/Leeds
Despite the team playing better than I’ve seen in a while, the Jesse Marsch era doesn’t exactly get Leeds off to the most ideal start. Obviously, the team was better defensively, conceding only one goal for the first time in what seems like ages. Yes, Dallas was out of position on the goal allowed to Harvey Barnes but I might attribute that to a bit of muscle memory (he may have mentally switched to man marking) than anything else. There is a lot to take away from this match both positive and negative. On the positive side, I saw maximum effort from nearly everyone on the pitch; standouts for me would be Dan James and, believe it or not, Junior Firpo. Today’s performance was one of his best, in my opinion. He showed great pace and nearly had a goal. On the negative, I thought Leeds were awful on corners and free kicks; you must do better with those opportunities. From the “a man can dream” file: I really wanted to see Jesse Marsch come out of the tunnel dressed as Ted Lasso. It would have been a great come-on.
